Apr. 9--In Grayslake, it's hard to miss the Rockenbach name, and not just because the family runs a prominent Chevrolet dealership in town.
Rodney "Jim" Rockenbach was chief of the Grayslake Fire Protection District for 38 of his 48 years with the district, which he joined when it was a volunteer fire department. Before retiring in 1993, he was a trustee of Avon Township for 28 years, involved in most local civic organizations and grand marshal in the Grayslake Summer Days parade.
Mr. Rockenbach, 89, also known as Rocky, died Friday, March 30, at his home in Bloomfield Township, Wis., after suffering from chronic obstruction ...
