Under dimmed lights and the watchful eyes of a sheriff's deputy, the writing was barely legible on the ancient document displayed at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia.
Yet the yellowed paper held enough power to evoke awe from hundreds of visitors March 30.
The Lincoln Cathedral Magna Carta - one of only four original 1215 Magna Carta documents in existence - is the centerpiece of the center's "Magna Carta and Four Foundations of Freedom" exhibition on display through June 18.
