Q Our daughter received an electric shock the other day but seems OK. Should we worry about long-term effects?
A No. An electric current is a serious risk to life at a surprisingly low level, especially if the current is able to pass easily through the body because of wet conditions and it passes through the brain or heart.
It's surprising there aren't more casualties from electrocution given this, but the numbers killed in the home each year through electric shock is relatively small, being dwarfed by causes such as falls.
