It is an arresting fact that interest in, and the reputation of, Hannah Arendt have grown exponentially since her death in 1975. During 2006, the hundredth anniversary of her birth in Germany, no fewer than three-score conferences were inspired by her life and works, taking place not only in America and Europe, but also in Asia. All her major works have been republished, and her uncollected essays are being diligently gathered in an ongoing series of volumes edited by her former student, Jerome Kohn, now director of the Hannah Arendt Center at The New School.
