A soccer tournament for Palestinian youth has been named after the finally dead Saddam Hussein, reports the Palestinian Authority's official newspaper, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida. And Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement has erected a double memorial stone, jointly honouring Saddam Hussein and Yasser Arafat and glorifying Saddam as a shahid (martyr for Allah) despite his slaughter of hundreds of thousands of his fellow Muslims. These news items were reported to the western world, Jan. 11, by Palestinian Media Watch (www.pmw.org.il). Westerners might be shocked to learn both how vehement and routine is the anti-Semitism of Palestinian mass media--and how much of it is aimed at children.
