MILAN - When Kris Van Assche walks into the Dior Homme studio this week after a three-year absence, it will be more than a homecoming for the Belgian designer. No longer in the role of assistant, Van Assche is now stepping in as artistic director and embarking on what is no doubt the greatest challenge of his life.
"It's so big, I don't even have words for it," Van Assche, 30, told DNR in an exclusive interview last Thursday, just hours after signing a multiyear contract with Dior to replace its iconic designer of the past six years, Hedi Slimane.
