In spite of the apparent reservations of some of the mainstream lenders over green mortgages, others have welcomed the announcement by several key players that they are to launch environmentally-friendly products.
HBoS has confirmed that it is to launch a green mortgage at some point next year, but has not provided any details about what it will offer.
Peter Jackson, head of products for HBoS, said: "Green finance is clearly an area where lenders can play an important part. We will launch a green mortgage next year."
