US independent Devon Energy is advancing its development program for its offshore China assets. The firm is planning to acquire more seismic this year and to start drilling some big prospects in 2008, confirming its position as the second-biggest foreign operator, after Canada's Husky, offshore China.
"Our opinion of the prospectivity of the deep waters in the South China Sea is good and we're excited about the area," said Earl Reynolds, Devon's international division general manager, at an offshore industry conference in Beijing this week.
