Onondaga County has officially turned blue.
Democrats in the traditionally Republican stronghold ended a decades-long game of catch-up this month to become the majority party in Onondaga County for the first time, according to county Board of Elections figures.
As of April 1, Democrats outnumbered Republicans in the county by 134 voters. That tiny edge could be important, at least psychologically, given the GOP's historic Upstate dominance and this year's highly competitive county executive's race.
