The rigors of military applications have been tough proving grounds for many kinds of packaging materials. Now Automated Packaging Systems is offering a new kind of high-barrier film for food applications that is patterned after a product it developed for the Department of Defense.

The military product is MLT1 and MLT2 heat-sealable packaging films, developed for machine parts like bearings, seals and O-rings that are packed in grease. The grease-resistant property carries over to MLT's civilian cousins: CBAR and WBAR high-barrier packaging films.
