WINCHENDON - Selectmen have voted to accept Chapter 48A of the Massachusetts General Laws. The vote means that the Fire Department will be able to extend its level of mutual aid.
Before Monday's vote, the town had only been providing mutual aid to Keene, N.H.and the Midstate North Central Massachusetts region.
In today's post-9-11, there are larger opportunities for us to provide mutual aid to our neighbors and to the state," Fire Chief Allan Lafrennie said.
The acceptance of Chapter 48 also means that the town itself will be responsible if there is any damage to the equipment or if one of its personnel is injured ...
