ORANGE - River Rat racers emerging from the Millers River yesterday, at the end of the annual canoe race from Athol to Orange, discovered a masterpiece in progress.
The racers were the first to try out the new Orange Riverfront Park, although in a limited fashion. The park is under construction, with a vision, when it is finished, of a place where people can stop for picnics, rent and launch canoes, or just stop and enjoy the natural beauty of the Millers River as it flows through downtown Orange.
The racers this year found it much easier to exit the river than during the past 43 years.
