Church Union Processes and the United Church of Christ
At a gathering of the united and uniting church representatives in Porto Alegre, Brazil during the 9th Assembly of the World Council of Churches, participants posed critical questions related to the nature and gifts of this family of churches. One observer who was not himself a member of a united or uniting church, but rather of one currently engaged in bilateral negotiations (resulting, it is hoped, in a full communion agreement) asked an important question.
