If the only reason you'd consider a desktop publishing package is to make a few cards or invitations, you don't need all the design power of even an entry-level DTP program like the ones reviewed here. Instead, you should check out some of the more focused publishing applications, available in two categories: those that offer a smaller set of templates and tools at (in most cases) a smaller price, and more narrowly focused programs that concentrate on one or two printing specialties such as brochures or business cards.
