Microsoft is starting to roll out its strategy for Windows 95 (formerly dubbed Chicago), and the powerful software publisher seems determined to dictate the terms by which the market will buy not only this new product, but its predecessors. In a marketplace where users generally consider new software products with interest, but do not necessarily want to use them immediately, this is unprecedented behavior.

Apparently, Microsoft intends to sell only Windows 95 once that version is available, removing today's Windows 3.11 from the shelves. This means companies will have to either immediately move to Windows 95 en masse, or live in a mixed environment where some users ...
