Apr. 19--You do not need to be Errol Flynn to understand fencing.
You do not even need to know French, though it probably would not hurt. Many of the world's top referees speak French. "It's all in English here," said Cindy Bent Findlay, spokeswoman for U.S. Fencing. "International competitions, those are in French." The U.S. Fencing North American Cup will run from Friday through Monday at the Tucson Convention Center. Elite fencers will compete in the third of three North American Cup Div. I tournaments for a spot on the national team at the World Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia, in October.
