NEW YORK -- Americans have problems sleeping, and as a result, they are turning to drug stores for relief.
Estimates are that between 50% and 70% of the country's adult population experiences some type of sleeping difficulties at least once a week. The number having trouble sleeping more than once a week is only slightly less.
And with mounting evidence that some of the prescription products for sleep-related problems can cause severe reactions in many people, more sleep-deprived consumers are turning to over-the-counter products.
