Apr. 20--Our northern neighbor's anemic economy and zero growth might lead to a decrease in the number of Ventura County residents commuting to Santa Barbara for work, a local economist says.
At a presentation Thursday in Santa Barbara, Bill Watkins, executive director of UC Santa Barbara's Economic Forecast Project, outlined his bearish take on the economy there.
With essentially no growth in jobs or population, astronomical housing costs and an economy dependent largely on service jobs, his long-term projections for Santa Barbara County's economy were not good.
