Apr. 20--Lorie Graham, a store manager at B&C Sports Collectibles, opened a pack of 12 Virginia Tech ties and began hanging them on a rack inside the Valley View Mall store on Thursday, just before noon.
Within 20 minutes, all of the ties were gone, including the last three that still were in her hand as she reached to place them on the rack.
Customers shelled out $24.99 per tie, likely with plans to wear them to work today, Graham said.
The demand led B&C's owner, Ernest Daniel, to order an overnight shipment of 36 more Virginia Tech ties. They're set to arrive by the time the store opens today.
