Apr. 22--When Ann Bittel and her late husband, Anthony, moved into the Rev. Charles Gates House on Bittel Road in 1950, it was surrounded by farmland. The house is listed as a Kentucky landmark and is more than 150 years old.
The colonial-style home has been in the Bittel family since 1909. Ann and her husband are the second Bittel family to live there.
Everything in the house is old, including herself, joked the 89-year-old. "When I was first married in 1937, I bought all modern furniture," Bittel said. "But I wasn't very happy with it, so I started looking for antiques."
