Apr. 22--Yuma lands in the national spotlight for positive reasons all the time, but the most recent mention involves a high-profile case of animal cruelty. The Humane Society of the United States recently included a local story about mutilated rabbits in a list of the nation's top 100 worst cases of cruelty. Cases on the top 100 list occurred during 2006 and ranged from a dog being locked in a closet and left to starve while the owner went to Disney World, to cats being killed with a blow torch.
