Apr. 22--If the Odessa City Council agrees at its Tuesday meeting, $200,000 in unused HOME funds originally allocated for providing rental assistance to victims of the Hurricane Katrina disaster will now be used for construction of homes for low- and moderate-income residents.

Community Development Director Michael Marrero said the funds, allocated by the city council in September 2005, were never utilized "because the Odessa Housing Authority and the Odessa Fire Department were successful in obtaining direct reimbursement from FEMA."
