Apr. 21--What would limelight be without electricity?

The American Public Power Association placed Rochester Public Utilities in some industry limelight this week with an annual award for energy innovation and research.

RPU was named the 2007 winner of the Award for Continued Excellence by APPA's Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments program.

RPU was a charter member of the program when it was started in 1980.

APPA praised the local utility company for "long-term commitment to energy innovation" as well as support of research into energy efficiency and renewable resources.
