IT'S rare to find a woman in the comic book industry, and even more-so a 20-something Asian-American ex-beauty queen.

Twenty-seven year-old Priscilla Tjio Hervey knows she broke the norm when she started Beyond Time Entertainment LLC, publisher of comic book series "Black Tiger--Legacy of Fury," in 2002 with her husband, John E. Hervey.

The former Miss Los Angeles Chinatown started the company when she was 22 and was working toward becoming a school teacher.

"I just thought I was going to be a teacher and that was that," she said. "I never really thought of owning a business."
