Apr. 25--Elmer Mallory, sales consultant for Dave Edwards Toyota of Spartanburg, believes Toyota's reversal of General Motors' 76-year dominance of the industry is an upset of epic proportions.
"It's an upset comparable to the San Diego Padres beating the New York Yankees in the World Series," Mallory said.
Toyota announced Tuesday that its worldwide sales of its Toyota and Lexus brands were 2.35 million automobiles for the first three months of the year. GM previously reported sales of 2.26 million vehicles over the same period.
