The past year in Sri Lanka has seen a flurry of new luxury hotel openings, signaling a renewed confidence that Sri Lanka may become the 'next big thing' in hot destinations, Sri Lanka's Minister for Tourism announced in the lead up to next week's Arabian Travel Market.
The Hon. Faiszer Musthapha, Deputy Minister of Tourism said 20 new hotels & accommodation units had opened in Sri Lanka during the past year, further marking Sri Lanka as one of Asia's best kept secrets. Another 232 hotels - equaling a staggering 20,445 new rooms - are also in the pipeline and due to open during the next two years.
