Humorist Robert Benchley once quipped that there are two kinds of people in the world: Those who divide the world into two kinds of people; and those who don't.
Back off, Benchley. There really are two kinds of people in the world: Those who believe gum chewing to be a vile, revolting, reprehensible activity practiced exclusively by low-bred louts and polled Herefords; and those who believe gum chewing to be a perfectly acceptable pastime that aids concentration and curtails appetite and also is simply fun.
Fortunately, our elected representatives have thus far restrained themselves from tearing into this particular topic ...
