Granby Elementary School Principal Barbara Hubbard gathered 27 kindergartners and first- and second-graders in the cafeteria Wednesday.
"When you think of them not having (health) insurance, it puts a real face on the problem," she said.
Representatives from the Fulton school district, Fidelis Care and Oswego County Opportunities described the impact lack of health coverage has on an estimated 9 percent of children in the state. Uninsured students lose more sick days, come to school ill more often and don't do as well academically, they said.
