Apr. 26--Will Shields, the Kansas City Chiefs' regal offensive lineman, retired last week after 14 NFL seasons. The Lawton High grad ranks with Jim Thorpe, Lee Roy Selmon and Steve Largent among the best football players ever produced in Oklahoma.

The next football stop for Shields will be Canton, Ohio, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But when will Shields' day of glory arrive?

History says Shields is in for a quick induction or a long wait.

Offensive linemen are not overlooked in Canton. There are more o-linemen in the Hall of Fame than any other position; 32 from the modern era.
