Apr. 27--Immersed in his collection of authentic African masks, Ibrahima Berete sounds more like a tribal elder than an antiques dealer doing business at Renninger's Antiques & Collectors Extravaganza.
He tells stories of marriage rituals in Gabon, wise men in Zaire and tribal rain dances in Burkina Faso.
"Each mask was made for a specific purpose," explains Berete, 62, a New York collector who grew up in Guinea, West Africa.
At the annual spring extravaganza, which opened Thursday and continues today and Saturday, dealers such as Berete dish out history lessons with their collectibles.
