If you are a movie lover, like me (and I assume that AJL readers are up to date on their pop-culture), you've been listening to some of the most successful Jewish musicians in American history. You just didn't know it.
Composers like James Horner, Howard Shore, Phillip Glass, and Danny Elfman write the background music for some of today's most popular films. (As an aside, 'background music' is a terribly offensive term for such artistic creations, but that's for a different column.) They work in a genre that requires the unique ability to transform human emotions into musical sounds. Their music doesn't necessarily sound Jewish, so what is the common chord between Jewish ...
