Apr. 29--Mary Shermer had a to-do list ready for husband, Butch, when they bought a fixer-upper home in Upper Hanover Township three years ago.
There was shag carpeting to tear up, a hall closet to rip out, drab walls to paint over.
Then Butch was called up for active military duty, and Mary was so busy with their four sons that the thought of working on their "project house" on Adams Road was overwhelming.
"Just to paint a wall," she said Saturday, "it would have taken me six months."
Things go a lot faster when there's help, though.
