The Canadian Navy's new Orca class training vessels are designed to replace a fleet of aging wooden ships that have been used to train naval personnel since the early 1950s. The first vessel, the Orca, designated as Patrol Craft Training (PCT-55), was delivered to the Canadian Navy in November 2006.
A total of eight of these sleek, 108 ft., steel ships will be delivered at three-month intervals over the next two years by Victoria Shipyards Co. Ltd. (VSL), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
