James Brown once sang, "This is a man's world." The lyrics couldn't ring more true behind-the-scenes in Hollywood, where the power players and shot-callers are typically White men.
Women are in the game, but for Black women more challenges are presented. There are, however, those who aren't letting anything stand in their way and have made a name for themselves. During the 2007 Minority Report panel discussion presented by Women in Film, several power players discussed their plight.
Debbie Allen could easily be coined a Renaissance woman. Name it and she's done it. Act, choreograph, direct, produce.
