Apr. 30--AMMAN -- An encounter with a Palestinian woman from Shatila Camp motivated Yiota Kamaratos to advocate for peace in the Middle East using her bicycle.
Kamaratos, from Cyprus, was one of 180 women from 35 countries who were in Jordan earlier this month as part of the cycle ride "Follow the Women -- Women for Peace."
"I wrote a poem called 'I am Palestinian' about the Israeli occupation of Palestine after meeting this woman named Nadwa," Kamaratos told The Jordan Times.
She read the poem during the cyclists' visit to Jordan in 2004 and again this month while visiting Jerusalem as part of the cycle ride, ...
