WORCESTER - Three-time world champion Jose Antonio Rivera said yesterday that his frustration over being ignored by promoter Don King has him considering retirement from boxing.
The 34-year-old fighter, who lost his WBA super welterweight title in January when he was TKO'd in the ninth round by Travis Simms in Hollywood, Fla., was hoping to meet Saturday night at Foxwoods Casino with King or Bob Goodman, vice president of boxing operations for Don King Productions. But the meeting never came off, leaving Rivera discouraged and just about out of options.
