"Radical Graham" was a risky, but shrewd, marketing concept to promote the Martha Graham centennial celebration in New York City and to focus attention on the revolutionary aspects of the late dancemaker's compositions from the 1930s and 1940s. As the season launch of BAM's Next Wave Festival, the repertory allowed audiences to experience the nonconformist nature of this artist, who was singularly influential in the development of American modern dance.
