An Ode To WASP Style
Is WASP culture in danger of extinction?
Certainly the pure, unadulterated milieu of all-male eating clubs, John Cheever-esque cocktail hours, exclusionary country clubs and Thurston Howell III seems to be going the way of boxy Volvos in today's streamlined, the-world-is-flat melting pot.
"WASP culture has been around for a very long time, but there is a very rarefied element to it, and who knows how much longer it will be around?" says Susanna Salk, who has written a new book called Celebrating WASP Style: A Privileged Life, to be published by Assouline next month.
