Iran's 6th President in office in August 2005, Ahmadi-Nejad heads the country's 9th Council of Ministers (cabinet) since Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's Islamic Revolution in early 1979 ousted the Pahlavi monarchy. Unlike most of his predecessors, Ahmadi-Nejad is not a religious figure. But he is under the influence of Iran's Ja'fari Shi'ite supremacists who, as religious figures, have much influence over the theocracy (see his profile in gmt17IranWhoApr23-07).
