May 4--WAVERLY -- A family tradition that started 60 years ago comes full-circle today.
Scott Rhoades, whose mother and grandmother also graduated from the nursing program through Allen Hospital, will earn his bachelor's degree in nursing and join a long-standing tradition of patient care that has its roots in World War II.
Scott's grandmother, Alice Rhoades, worked for $30 a month as a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps after leaving the family turkey farm to attend the Allen College School of Nursing, the predecessor to the current program.
