May 5--Several former pastors of Calvary United Methodist Church will participate in a service on Sunday at 10 a.m. in honor of the church's 75th anniversary at its location at South Wyomissing Avenue and Church Street in Mohnton.
The history of the church dates back to 1841 when a preacher of the Evangelical Association delivered a sermon in an orchard on the farm of John Spatz Sr. in Cumru Township. Preachers of the Lancaster circuit of the Evangelical Association conducted services in the Mohnton area from 1842 to 1844. By 1847, the first class of 15 members was organized in the area formerly known as Mohnsville.
