In a dramatic shakeup, David P. Leach has been fired as executive director of the Worcester Center for Crafts and the center's board president and treasurer have resigned.
Mr. Leach expressed surprise at the board's decision, which was made Tuesday night in a meeting Mr. Leach did not attend.
He was named executive director in June 2005, when longtime executive director Maryon Attwood resigned, saying she was exhausted and planned to move to the West Coast to take up a slower-paced life. Previously, Mr. Leach had been chief development officer at the craft center since 2003.
