An announcement about the "National Summit on America's Silent Epidemic" arrived by email last week.
The May 9 summit in Washington will address the nation's high school dropout crisis.
It will bring together educational research experts, government, business and non-profit leaders - everyone from First Lady Laura Bush to MTV President Christina Norman.
It will unveil an online resource to give every community in the nation instant access to graduation rates for all of its school districts. "Do You Know Your School's True Graduation Rate?" the headline on the announcement asked.
