Imagine the shock and horror that transpired when My Chemical Romance floated the idea of making a concept album that splits the difference between The Who's "Tommy" and Pink Floyd's "The Wall," and then proposed that, when it came time to tour again, the band members would wear costumes based on what The Beatles wore for "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."
In one fell swoop, My Chemical Romance could have unplugged the connection it had made with legions of teen fans by suddenly making music more in the spirit of those fans' parents.
