The Red Wings second consecutive Stanley Cup in 1998 secured their place in hockey history. But how big a place? They can certainly claim 1997 and 1998 as their own, and possibly 1996, when they set the league record for victories. But can the Red Wings be rightly be called the Team of the Nineties?
The New York Yankees dominated the Fifties, the Green Bay Packers and Boston Celtics owned the Sixties, and the Montreal Canadiens ruled the Seventies.
