May 8--Marianne S. Canning isn't a lawyer.
But for almost 22 years, she worked with veteran attorneys and novices as she led the Lehigh County Bar Association into the millennium.
Canning, who retired as executive director March 1, was honored Monday by the 650-member association and given the Liberty Bell Award.
The award is presented annually on Law Day to recognize achievements of association members and others in the legal community.
Canning, who is succeeded by Dan LaBert, said she was proud to be part of the association's activities and projects and enjoyed working in the legal community.
