Tokyo, Japan, May 8, 2007 - (JCN Newswire) - There were 13 IPOs in April: seven on JASDAQ, three on TSE Mothers, and one each on OSE Hercules and the TSE 1st and 2nd sections. Activity was much lower than in April 2006 when there were 20 IPOs. The April 2007 IPOs procured JPY 39.2 billion, but the Yachiyo Bank IPO alone raised JPY 15.7 billion, about 40% of the monthly total. That means the average for each of the remaining 12 issues was only about JPY 2 billion.

The average opening price premium relative to the offering prices was 36.63% in April 2007, slightly lower than the 39.42% average for all IPOs thus far in 2007. Every year, there are very few IPOs in ...
