May 8--NORMAN -- Oklahoma needed a new point guard. Omar Leary needed a new place to play Division I basketball. Both got what they wanted Monday when Leary signed a letter of intent with the Sooners.
"I'm very excited about Omar joining our program," OU coach Jeff Capel said. "First and foremost, he's a very good kid, has great character and is a hard worker. Second, he wins."
Northeastern (Colo.) Junior College went 64-6 with Leary at point guard the last two years. The 34-2 Plainsmen finished seventh at last month's national junior college tournament, where Leary averaged 21.5 points and 5.5 assists, made first-team JUCO ...
