George Woodcock's Introduction to Canadian Poetry is a collection of ten short essays based upon those Woodcock has supplied to introduce each of the ten volumes in ECW's series of critical essays, Canadian Writers and Their Works (1992). Although the essays could have been more neatly linked, with less repetition, Woodcock's "personal view" of a now greatly "variegated" national poetry is one for which a long familiarity with his subject and catholic empathy well qualify him.
