Burger King, Raving Brands and other chains release expansion results.
* Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy opened a store in Lakeland, Fla. The chain operates 38 locations in 15 states.
* Applebee's announced plans to close 24 of its 528 company-owned restaurants. Systemwide, more than 1,940 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants remain in operation. According to a company release, in the past, Applebee's has closed an average of one or two company-owned restaurants per year.
* Benihana signed lease agreements to open two RA Sushi Bar restaurants, one in Baltimore, Md., and the other in Plano, Texas, by 2008.
